August 2011

Its 107am, 1st of August 2011.

Calendar wise, it´s still Summer time here in Germany. Temperature wise.... feels like Autumn is hitting in early this year! Even the trees are shedding it´s leaves already and some, starting to get bald in the tree...... Sometimes, it sure is rather amazing looking at nature this way!

Time sure seems to fly alot. Seems just like yesterday I was packing and getting ready to leave for Germany with my daughter..... but now, looking back, we have been away from Malaysia for 6 months now! Sure is a long time we have been gone........ Feels so short though.

With us being gone for so long, I still keep tabs on back home... and I find the news of Malaysia rather disturbing at the moment, especially after the Bersih Rally. Now... many who read what I post in facebook, or certain articles that I share here thinks that I have forgotten Malaysia the instant I touched European soil etc (yea I have received these wonderful remarks... -.-) . I find these people who have actually commented and thought of me as such stupid and ironic. First of, no matter where we go, home is where our heart is. Secondly...... I criticize the ironicness of what is happening back home, but doesn´t mean I forget Malaysia or hate it. Malaysia is a great place, but screwed up people who is at the moment taking power too much for granted.... Guess this is what happens when you rule for too long huh?

I seriously hope... that this doesn´t end up becoming an international affair of sorts as I still would love to go back to Malaysia to see my parents and family... and also to see someone there (though I guess that person wouldn´t even wanna meet me anyways...)  still. My history, my life, my love are all there.... so please, the government of Malaysia... don´t be so selfish and power insane..... and care for the citizens before it becomes every body´s regret......

On a more day to day basis.......
Amelia is entering her 3rd month of Kindergarten here. She´s learnt alot of new German words or short phrases, but not enough to talk a full sentence in German just yet. She´s grown taller and more beautiful...... and like every child, getting naughtier and starts expressing and experimenting on how far her limits are. So now I know the hardships and the pains of being a parent...... I remember how I used to scorn and hated my parents for nagging me..... and now, having my little girl of my own... lolx.... and with the genes of both me and my ex husband in her..... *ROFL* it sure is remarkably hard being a single mum handling her baby! But we are coping fine... even if she has to learn the hard way and her mummy have to cry in pain disciplining her.... we will survive this ordeal together......

Summer break is almost over...... my courses will be starting back once again........ so means I wouldn´t be as free as I am at the moment... though I do hope that the chaos of our new home can be settled fast... hate this... messiness and such in the new apartment at the moment. So disoriented at the moment..... some of the things can´t even be found as I can´t remember which box I packed it into! I think, the only place in the entire apartment that is neatly arranged and furniture and such is completed is my baby´s room! My daughter is very proud of her own bedroom.... as she was the one that decided to paint and design it the way she wanted...... creativity is what she has, although my dad was abit.... hahah shocked.... at the way she decided to paint it! xD

But then again, who should stop a child´s creativity? ^^

Well at least... she has better creativity than me :P

Wikileaks: US envoy says Umno abused security laws, institutions

I was reading the Malaysian Insider online and came to this article that attracted my attention alot...... Makes me kinda curious and worried.... being so far away from home with my daughter, my parents and family and loved ones back in Malaysia, how far is UMNO really planning to go to ensure their success?

Wikileaks: US envoy says Umno abused security laws, institutions

July 22, 2011

KUALA LUMPUR, July 22 — The United States ambassador here told Washington in 2008 that Malaysia was facing a “political crisis” caused by Umno’s control and abuse of security institutions and national security laws to remain in power.
US ambassador James R. Keith said in a leaked cable, released by whistleblower site WikiLeaks through the Malaysia Today news portal that “in good times Umno can maintain control by distributing power and money to get what it wants (but) in bad times, it uses the stick, and for now that means intimidation.”
The document, signed by the US ambassador at the time, charged that Umno “controlled” security institutions like the military and the police by appointing “party stalwarts” to head these institutions. The cable said that while the army would remain “loyal” to legitimate leadership, the police, on the other hand, took direct orders from Umno.
“Umno leaders, united behind but also in a sense using Prime Minister (Tun) Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, have made it clear that they are willing to blacken Malaysia’s reputation to ensure the end to opposition leader (Datuk Seri) Anwar Ibrahim’s political challenge,” said the cable in reference to the Pakatan Rakyat (PR) leader’s on-going sodomy trial where he was charged with sodomising an ex-aide on June 26, 2008.
“The ruling elite maintains control over the security apparatus through party stalwarts who run the security institutions, mainly the police but also the military. We believe the military will remain loyal to legitimate leadership and is not a likely tool to overturn an elected, royally-approved and Malay-led government from either the ruling or opposition side. The police, on the other hand, follow orders from the ruling party.

The document also stated that the government had “failed” to convince the majority of Malaysians that Anwar’s sodomy trial was not politically-motivated. — file pic
“The “commando-style” arrest of Anwar last week, the roadblocks and security checks throughout the city of Kuala Lumpur, the recent arrest of blogger Raja Petra (Kamaruddin), intimidation of Sabah politicians, and the authorities’ strident rhetoric are all part of a broad message to the Malaysian people that they had better not stand in Umno’s path. In today’s Malaysia, one can get along by going along (and of course one can go farther as a Malay rather than a Chinese or Indian), but it is also true that one can be run over,” said the US cable.
The cable added that Umno defined national security as a means to protect the party’s “superiority” and to ensure that the opposition cannot take over the reins of federal power.
“Now the criminal law is laid bare as a political tool, just as useful to the ruling party as the national security law.
“Umno leaders may fail to grasp the consequences of upping the ante; they hear what we are saying, but do not understand sufficiently well how difficult it will be for them to overcome the shadows they are casting on the country. They no doubt thought they were choosing the more palatable path in using the criminal law, and thus the sodomy charge, rather than detaining Anwar as a matter of national security under the Internal Security Act. But contrary to their intent, many in the international community will take this as escalation,” said the cable.
The document stated that at that point in time the Barisan Nasional (BN) government had “failed” to convince the majority of Malaysians as well as the international community that Anwar’s sodomy trial was not politically-motivated.
“The authorities themselves betray that fiction on a daily basis in the pages of the domestic press, and barely one in 10 Malaysians are buying into the party line a survey tells us,” said the cable.
The report recommended that the US “exploit” every possible opportunity for “authoritative bilateral exchange” to ensure the BN government understood the costs of “efforts that diminish the rule of law.”

US Concern at Malaysia Crackdown on Protests

Somehow, in my personal opinion.... I think that the dear Malaysian government should get their act together. Lately, ever since the BERSIH rally....... well... if it´s local newspaper, I am fine... but internationally.... and being in the eyes of the world especially from US and the UN.... isn´t a very good idea to keep this dragging for too long........

US concern at Malaysia crackdown on protests

Police detain a supporter of the Bersih electoral reform coalition during a rally in Kuala Lumpur July 9, 2011 Some 1,650 people were detained at the rally on Saturday

Related Stories

The US has expressed concern over a crackdown in Malaysia on protests last Saturday.
The state department's Mark Toner said people should be allowed to "freely express their democratic aspirations".
Malaysian police cordoned off central Kuala Lumpur on Saturday and used tear gas and water cannon against thousands of people demanding electoral reform.
About 1,650 people were arrested at the rally, but the police said most were released shortly afterwards.
Opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim was one of a small number of people who were injured in the protest. He was taken to hospital after he fell to the pavement after a tear gas attack.
A group calling itself the Bersih 2.0 coalition organised the rally, saying the electoral system is plagued with fraud.
They want longer campaign periods, automatic voter registration and equality of access to the largely government-linked mainstream media.
In his regular news conference, Mr Toner said he had concerns about what had happened on the weekend.
"We stand for... the right for people to freely express their democratic aspirations and express their views freely," he said.
"I would stress that those must be peaceful demonstrations. So we did have some concerns; we continue to monitor the situation closely."
The UN and rights groups have already expressed alarm at the treatment of the protesters.
"The Malaysian government should launch a prompt, impartial, and transparent investigation into the use of excessive force and unwarranted arrests by the security forces," said US-based Human Rights Watch.
British Prime Minister David Cameron is meeting his Malaysian counterpart Najib Razak later, and Amnesty International has urged him to raise the issue.
Malaysian officials have defended their actions, saying the rally was illegal and the force used was proportionate.

Malaysia cracks down on protesters

why do the authorities have to "fire" and shoot first? It´s so obvious from the videos.... the ones that started the fight isn´t the people in the rally.. but the police that were there... is this how the government is working at the moment???

Are the people in the government actually hiding behind violence nowadays to resolve things?

Upon watching this youtube.... I feel completely sadden..... the few scenes here that showed up...... it was the police that fired the shots of the tear gases at the citizens first.... it was the police that was roughly handling the citizens at the rally.... Was the police there for protection or for stirring up more problems on the streets of those demonstrations?

Terrible Exams Questions

Terrible Exams Questions - Are the teachers qualified?

Today, as I was reading the Malaysian Newspaper, The Star Online, before turning in to bed.... I found a very interesting article that I just can´t help but wanna share......

It´s an email written by a concern brother to The Star Newspaper regarding the "mistakes" of teachers in his younger brother´s school... I´d say more of stupidity...... but then again, politeness is good I guess ^^

Now I am curious.......

Seriously, after reading the article, I won´t stop laughing... to see how stupid teachers in Malaysia are! It´s only Year 2 and the English is the most simplest.... but yet, as a teacher... not even able to write a simple English phrase...... without such an error! How can parents then trust the teachers to groom their children into a better person when the teachers themselves speak such broken languages? Why is the government not taking drastic actions on improving the teachers´standards? Do they really want the country to be a serious laughing stock in the eyes of the world?

Is sex the only happy factor in a marriage?

Is Sex the Only Happy Factor in a Marriage?
A Happy Man, A Happy Home

A very interesting topic once again, I found, from The Star Online website....... First it was the news that a club known as the "Obedient Wives Club" has been founded in Malaysia to better and further educate the women folk on how to keep their men tied to them... and then now these distressing newspaper ads......

Being 10,000km away from home (aka Malaysia)..... I somehow can´t help but keep in touch with the news over there... especially when everyone seems to be sharing such "wonderful" news via facebook.......

    Makes me curious.....

How obedient do people in Malaysia wants the women folks to be? Is every man who hits or rapes or abuses a woman because of not having a good and caring wife? Have anyone come to the conclusion that the man himself probably grew up in an abusive environment? Or that.... he turned pervert and not because of the woman´s fault?

So is it the woman´s fault also when the man has roving eyes when he sees another woman walking by and his wife sitting directly beside him?

This is not about the wife not being caring and loving or even always misunderstanding her man.... it´s also about the man not being "responsible" over his own actions. It always takes two hands to clap... with one hand, you can´t clap nor make a sound out of it. It´s the same with relationships. So.... I would like to ask then..... what´s the point of being a 101% loving and caring wife when the husband doesn´t even know how to appreciate it and just feels that.... "its not enough"?

Have you ever seen a woman who gave up completely everything of her own, just because of her love for her husband? Only to be blamed later that she doesn´t trust him and care for him?

    June 2011

    Another brand new month started.....

With it, starts my daughter´s kindergarden.

My beautiful growing daughter started school on the 1st of June 2011, Wednesday. It was a nice cold windy day for a starting of school. She woke up easily, and is still waking up quite easily for school (prays it lasts long ;)), and prepared for school very promptly. The glow and joy in her eyes was extremely unbuyable... even until today, her 2nd week in school, she is still glowing with happiness whenever it´s time for school......

Anyway, as school has started for her, so it has also started for me....... we now have such a strange schedule, I am still trying to keep myself in it..... after having so long "break" from work and studying.........

Going to school together in the morning with my daughter is indeed great..... we wake up together, have some short time together, before I walk her to school.... she has breakfast in school, together with lunch *yummy*........  leaving me a slight hour break before picking her up from her kindergarten... :)

My daughter is growing older... *sighs*

    Can´t I keep her a baby forever? :-x :)
