Merry Christmas

It´s 24th of December 2012.

Christmas eve........ 

This year is our 2nd year celebrating Christmas in Germany, far far away from our home and our love ones and families. This year´s Christmas is different. We celebrated in our own cozy home in the heart of Berlin, Germany.... surrounded only with ourselves. Like my daughter always say : " With mummy, pappy and baby" =) Was hoping for a complete white Christmas, but.... God has His own plans. We had a little snow (leftovers from the previous days of snowing), but temperature was already Spring temperature! Lolx! Too bad, knowing the cranky weather of Germany..... it would probably start snowing and freezing once again some time in January......

Our Christmas eve is very simple. We had unloading Xmas socks in the morning, watching our little girl glowing with joy when she unload her sock and find many types of candy sweets and Hello Kitty goodies inside her sock! Had a fulfilling home made dinner, curtesy of Hubby - yea... he did all the cooking, and then later on opening the Xmas gifts (with a squealing Amelia as she opens all her gifts, especially from Opa and Oma). And now we are sitting here in the TV Room watching the movie The Last Unicorn!

Been camping out on the sofa bed together with Amelia for nearly a week now....... tonight is back into our rooms, Hubby is very happy to have that! But having Amelia smiling with so much joy is definitely worth the camping out in the TV Room together for a week..... After 5 nearly 6 years, my little girl still loves curling up into my arms to sleep.... and every night for the past 1 week, as she lies sleeping in my arms, she never fails to repeat herself : " Mummy, I will never be able to fall asleep without your smell". *melts* Whatever am I going to do with my little baby........ My little girl, my life, my little angel. 

Another year has gone by and is starting anew......

I wonder what else is in store next year. 

I continue to miss home, miss my parents alot and everyone back home. Homesickness can be really painful at times isn´t it.

I found a very interesting article, that made me really pissed off about the government of Malaysia. Government and rulers of Malaysia....... ruling and earning a Minister´s salary.... can afford properties all around the world, especially in the Europe continent..... and there they go saying that they didn´t "steal" the citizens money using dirty work. I wonder why nothing is being done to people like this, and ........ why should the citizens of Malaysia continue voting for a government that is so greedy, selfish and dont know how to behave?

It a known fact among Malaysians in the UK that senior Umno leaders own an extensive array of properties in London.

LONDON: There is no doubt that Umno leaders are filthy rich. In fact, word here is that almost all senior federal leaders in Umno are so wealthy that they own multiple properties in central London.

Not surprising, their spendthrift ways and that of their children have been making the news for a while.

Malaysians living in London have been privy to this information for decades and view it with repugnance and shame.

They are surprised that despite the dazzling light on the unusual wealth accumulated by government ministers which is displayed in their purchase of numerous properties around the world, their brazen hypocrisy elicits little comment back home.

Malaysians living here claim a former top Umno leader is linked to over a thousand properties in various parts of central London. Most of the properties are in the Canary Wharf areas.

“We know for a fact of this Umno guy who owns 1,400 properties in London. He is filthy rich… very, very rich. He even has a new wife now,” said one Malaysian who has been residing here for the last 20 years.

He told FMT that politically-aware Malaysians in London do keep tabs on these Umno leaders, while the Umno leaders in turn are aware that their properties in the United Kingdom are no secret at all to Malaysians residing here.

“We know some of their kids are studying here and we know where they live and what they do. They may be Muslims but they drink and they flirt a lot here, something that they dare not do openly back home, but who cares when they are here,” the London resident said.

Political rot

He said that it was a known fact that many Umno national leaders, both present and past, are rich and own properties around the world, including here in central London.

“The [federal] ministers own at least a few properties in London. Once in a while they do visit their houses or in some cases their children and family stayed while on study or holidays here.”

Asked if he could provide evidence of his claims, he said it was no secret here and that some of them have been caught on camera and the photos had made their way onto social media sites.

Another Malaysian residing here, who also requested anonymity, claimed that Sabah and Sarawak leaders also own properties in various places here either under their own names or their family members.

“How can they afford it? With just a minister’s salary they could not be this rich… they own properties everywhere in Europe.

“We also know of one who have bought properties even in Argentina.

“He could be preparing for himself to live in Argentina if Umno loses at the coming general election to Pakatan Rakyat,” he said.

The fact that Malaysians outside the country are mortified by the wealth of their nation’s leaders should be a reminder to delegates at the ongoing annual general assembly in Kuala Lumpur that what they consider non-issue speaks volumes about how deep is the political rot in the country.

So, I have now a crying baby sick at home for a week. Being down with infection.

The saddest part? putting on the medication for her and watching tears stream down her pretty little face :(

Slight Updates of us

Its been really a while since I actually entered an entry in my sort of abandoned blog. Time really flies when you are actually not watching it. It seems that the wind has blown thru almost the year and we have arrived in the month of October, or actually..... almost gonna end of it. So many things have happened daily....... November marks a month where we will have our beloved Scottish friends with us for a week. Yet another nice holiday to look forward to =) More photos to hang up on our walls of memories. ^^

There would be alot of things to update, but then again, time is insufficient for it.

To have a short summary...... Summer came and went. Autumn started with crazy temperatures, sometimes freezing other times burning hot. But at the moment, it´s full fledge Autumn, although the weather and temperatures are getting hotter once again. My little girl now is a part of a musical in school, longer hours in school daily due to the after school practices. Other than that, she´s enjoying her swimming lessons. Her fear of water is gradually diminishing (thank goodness for it!) and she even jumped off a 1m jumping board in the swimming pool! *proud mummy* Baby´s also gotten selected to enter one of the "Arts" school around here next year! We just received the letter, although I have yet to break the news out to my little girl.

I have yet to start my language classes once again. Don´t know when should I start.... am not really keen on winter classes (the weather here can get freezing butt cold in winter!). But that´s a small worry ^^

This year, we would be celebrating Xmas in our own home. No in-laws nothing. Less excitement, and a small celebration, between us 3 together with some friends maybe. Am on the lookout for a nice plastic christmas tree, no point getting a real one - pay bloody good money for it and it only lasts for days. But.... before Xmas, Halloween is fast approaching in 8 days time! Still haven´t decided if we will be taking part in Halloween this year as it falls on baby´s swim day. Normally her swim days are extremely long and tiring - being stuck in school since 630+am. But..... who knows?

There will be a summer camp next year, before all of them leaves for elementary school. I have registered her name there, however..... don´t know if she will go in the end. She´s not really into leaving mummy for 5 days. All her old fears kicked in when I told her I won´t be with her in the camp and she won´t be seeing me for that 5 days. *sighs*......... Praying for God´s guidance and strength for this........ 

Haven´t been reading and keeping up on news back home in Malaysia. Too ironic and saddening to read stupid stuff the people and government are doing. xD That´s a huge reason why I never did take part in politics and news when I was residing there.

Oh speaking of which......

To you readers out there that pops over to read my blog and then starts commenting on my chat box. Whether you read this or not, I don´t mind ur messages there, but please do not advertise anything out from Malaysia. Been years since I am there and I dont want to know anything about it.

Becoming a laughing stock of the world! Malaysia seriously need to grow up... or at least the ministers.....

So, the guidelines that was released by the Malaysia Government regarding how to identify the Gays and the Lesbians has indeed sparked amusement and critics from everywhere around the world. Malaysia now has, if not directly, indirectly become the laughing stock of the entire world with their narrow mindedness of the topic.

Surfing more on this topic, I found on the Malaysia Kini Website an article titled Guidelines to identify gay and lesbian symptoms (link can be clicked to be directed to website) published there. So.... makes me wonder.... since when did those crazy crackpot ministers there make themselves a pro in identifying the gays and the lesbians?!  Another article entitled Govt endorses guide on how to spot gays (Link is clickable) by the Free Malaysia today website also shows more startling proof about what the Education Ministry and the ministries in Malaysia spend their quality time on. I am amused.... if you all have so much time, why are you guys wasting your time trying to identify gays and lesbians instead of making and improving the country? 

In my opinion, what they are doing is wrong.

Ladies / gals are not allowed to be seen hanging out too closely with their girlfriends anymore because they can be lesbians.... so means you are encouraging them to always hang out with the opposite sex? So what happens when the crime rates of rape increases? It is then the ladies' fault because she doesn´t know how to protect herself and is always clinging onto the men?!

An article from Malaysian Insider entitled Homosexual guidelines may lead to discrimination, says experts is a very good article to read and ponder, digest and understand. The Malaysian government is seriously creating more stress for the younger generations with all those stupid and not logic guidelines.

Bravo, you all just made Malaysia the laughing stock of the entire world!

Go google up the Malaysia guidelines to Gay and Lesbian... then you know the damage you have made with your shallow mindedness.

A horrifying headlines : ‘We’ll rape and torture your kids to death’

Today, upon logging on as usual to all my news portals and facebook, i stumbled upon this very article that is very extremely disturbing! If you want to view it in its original form, click on the title below.

Cannot believe such a thing can be happening and that the authorities and police isn´t doing anything about it. And the "last day" of the threat is tomorrow. Where is the sense of safety living in Malaysia? Where is the freedom of speech they talk about so much? A government is formed by the citizens, and every single individual living and staying in Malaysia has a different opinion of everything. So if someone criticizes you, you send your gangsters to clear it up? For shame!

‘We’ll rape and torture your kids to death’

This is the threat made against an activist, whose husband made a YouTube video criticising the deputy premier and Negeri Sembilan MB.

PETALING JAYA: A social activist in Negeri Sembilan lodged a police report last week alleging that a man threatened to harm her children if they do not leave Malaysia in a week.

S Jaya, 39, who runs the Negeri Sembilan Community Welfare Association lodged the report with the Seremban police station on Aug 30, the same day her husband received the threat via post.

The NGO leader said the threat was related to her husband S Ravinthran’s three-part video series on YouTube criticising Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin and Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Mohamad Hassan.

“My husband highlighted several issues plaguing the people of Negeri Sembilan and Hasan’s mismanagement of the state but this is what we get,” an upset Jaya told FMT.

The letter is signed by one Muzaffir who claimed to be part of Geng Negeri Sembilan and Geng Perdana Menteri.

Muzaffir had threatened to rape and kill Jaya’s three young daughters if Ravinthran failed to apologise to Muhyiddin and Hasan for his criticism.

“Kalau kau tak keluar Malaysia, kami tangkap tiga ekor betina kau. 50 orang rogol setiap anak kau dan seksa anak-anak kau sampai mati [ if you don't leave mlaysia, we will catch your daughters. 50 people will rape each of them and we will torture them to death],” read the letter.

The mysterious sender also told Ravinthran to remove all videos and apologise to Muhyiddin and Hasan.

“Kami bagi kau tujuh hari untuk balik India. Setiap gerak-geri kau 24 jam kami awasi [we give seven days for you to return to India. We are watching your every move 24 hours day],” he added.

Jaya said that she was surprised that Muzaffir knew their house address as they just moved to the new place two weeks ago.

She also said that the sender knew where her three children, ranging from nine to six years old, were studying.

“Tomorrow is the deadline [on the threat] but the police have done nothing yet. What if something happens?” she asked.

Jaya urged Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak to suspend Muhyiddin and Hassan pending an inquiry on the matter.

A depressed Merdeka — Are you celebrating Merdeka?

Merdeka, or also known as the Independence day of Malaysia, is coming up in just 24 hours. But how would you celebrate Malaysia´s 55th year of Independence this year? It´s been almost 2 years now since the migration abroad and the tapping on the on going news from all the international and also local news portals to see on the ongoing of Malaysia. And sadly to say, I am not very happy or proud about my birth country anymore, especially seeing all the stupidity and the pain the citizens and also my family indirectly goes thru back home.

From the politicals fights the country is having - the "outstanding" ruling of BN all these years and the downfall of it (hopefully soon so that the country can undergo a better change), to the 2 sexual cases that was released because they were national bowlers and first time offenders (Rapists freed by courts match medical definition of paedophiles, Children’s welfare ignored by keeping rapists out of jail, says child specialist, - and many others which can be sourced out from the internet or the Malaysian Insider webpage), and many other unbelievable disastrous happenings in the past year, I would say that Malaysia sure is making one hell of a change. A change to show people that it is not progressing but moving backwards, that they don´t believe in protecting the citizens but merely putting their attention on people who have the money or the people who are doing the country good (national bowlers only ma... not even freaking international bowlers). 

Today, on the eve of Merdeka day, I would like to share this little article I extracted out from the Malaysian Insider news portal once again. Time to think and ponder on the country and...... finally stand up to make a change.

A depressed Merdeka — Are you celebrating Merdeka?

Seeing a headline shouting “Putrajaya offers cash rewards to N-Day event participation” does not encourage patriotism. It does not help that this year, just like the past few years, the atmosphere is muted. 

Very few Malaysians are in the mood to celebrate Malaysia’s 55th year of Independence, and that is a truly sorry state for the country to be.

There are many factors related to this. A declining economy, rising costs of living, gutter politics, crime, and there is also a general air of hopelessness among Malaysians when asked if they were looking forward to August 31, 2012.

If one is to believe the noise on social media, and in forums, it would seem that Malaysians hate their country. There seems to be nothing positive about the country, and every effort the government puts, is met with ridicule.

What does the average Malaysian think about this year’s Merdeka celebrations?

CS Tan of Terengganu finds that this year theme is a joke. “I ‘created’ a few phases to my Merdeka celebration. From primary to secondary school Merdeka was about how we managed to be independent, govern our country on our own terms, instead of being under British rule, and of course the colourful floats we saw on television. Tertiary – it’s about holidays. Young working life – it’s about holidays plus those outrageous uniforms from TNB and Telekom and other Malaysian companies we had to wear. Middle age phase – Merdeka is about able to think of myself after years of believing that the government can’t do wrong. This year – it’s about Merdeka from crime in Malaysia. Not optimistic huh?”

The 1Malaysia Merdeka logo provoked such outcry and ridicule, one can only feel sorry for the government. “I’m sure that our Government had the best of intentions when they commissioned the design …” a rather diplomatic professional who did not want to be named said.

Oso-San Anna disagrees. A Communications professional, she has worked in advertising agencies and in-house communications departments. She understands design and branding – she lives and breathes them. “Firstly, for something as important as Merdeka, the Government should leave it to the pros. I mean real pros (and not some crony’s son) who has a solid understanding of the use of symbol and colour and collective expression of national pride.”

“Secondly, branding is powerful when built and layered over time with consistency and commitment.”

“Thirdly, where are the brand values? Both from the standpoint of the creator and the people it’s meant for? Is there buy-in from the Rakyat? I feel all 3 are missing in the 1Malaysia logo that was designed. We are 55 years old as a Nation. Sure it’s national pride but the meaning of real patriotism is already lost since it’s seldom practiced in soul & spirit,” she said.

Angelia Ong, who works in animation is saddened by recent celebrations. The idea of Merdeka has somehow lost its spirit, she says. “It used to be more alive and less about polishing the achievements of a particular political coalition. It used to come across as more inclusive and meaningful. The phrase “1Malaysia” has taken over so much, my youngest had one time thought our country was called 1Malaysia, rather than Malaysia. From a branding point of view, I guess they have succeeded in ensuring that it’s everywhere and anywhere, to the point of oversaturation.”

From a Malaysian’s point of view (on what she thought of the logo), “it was just a major facepalm moment.”

On Facebook, one lone friend is spotted asking on his status update, “Where can I get a Malaysian flag? I want to hang it from my balcony.” Very few of his friends responded to the query.

No Money, No Merdeka Honey

Malaysians at this moment can’t be bothered about politics. They’re concerned about GE, but right at the top of their heads is how to make a living in Malaysia. If corporate professionals turn to multi-level marketing as a side-income, and journalists to tuition and freelance writing to make up for their pay, what about the average Malaysian?

This year’s Ramadan revealed the rising cost of food. A pitiful currypuff is now 50 sen, when it used to be RM1 for three currypuffs. And it seems that it is the same everywhere, from Bangsar to Keramat. Maggi Mee, a staple for Malaysians, has gone up, and a cup of very sweet Milo at a small mamak-like café at Giant Kota Damansara now cost RM4. Could this be why crime is rampant?

Tania Leong, who runs a new age shop, is not confident of our economy. “Everyone I know who owns a business, has reported a decrease in revenue. Even my customers share a same complaint of their businesses, be it property, legal (clients unable to pay), travel agency, health spas, dvd shops, children's play facilities, restaurants etc. Sungai Wang Plaza in the city has always been golden hot property (probably one of the top 5 most expensive per sq.ft.), and even that is suffering.”

“What I have observed is that this country is lacking qualified personnel in many areas of work from a sale assistant to corporate positions, a low standard of education system, many government workers are slow, inefficient and clueless, there is no minimum wage, corruption appears to be the norm in our judicial, police & government departments, religion has been made into law, sex education in schools are non-existent or minimal and so we have children bearing children. Crime rates seemed to have soared the last couple of years.”

“If leaving the country was an option for me, I would leave in a heartbeat.”

Hani B works in retail and has first-hand experiences with customer spending. Her customers range from the wealthy Middle Easterners to young college students, and understands their buying habits. “I used to be confident that our economy can weather most adversities, now I get totally scared when reading that our national debt amounted to 257 billion in 2011 … yikes!!

When I google about our economy, the results go on and on about how much it's growing bla bla bla but retail wise, I just don't see it and my salary certainly doesn't reflect it.”

Like Tania, she notes that skilled workers are lacking. “I read that our country is among the top 20 nations to be labelled as losers of capital flight ... that is RM893 billion(!) siphoned out between 1970 and 2010, so why should we stay back and help with the improvement of wealth to the 1 per cent? Then again, what do I know, I'm just a shopgirl.”

At the many open houses around the capital, the Malaysians asked, professed to forgetting that Merdeka was around the corner. This year is bad, they said, and their open houses reflect that.

Open houses are celebrated on a smaller scale now.

Yet, there is still some cheer, among bankers and human resource professionals. An expatriate investment banker based in Kuala Lumpur is enthusiastic about life in Malaysia. “The wealthy Europeans and Australians are now heading to Asia for the quality of life it offers. Now, certain Asian countries like Hong Kong are a no-no for expats, because of its spiralling cost of living. While Malaysia has the infrastructure, it has to beat Thailand and Indonesia – these two countries reinvent themselves, to meet with contemporary demands.” Malaysia has the potential to be the top 20 countries in the world, but the numbers are teetering. He concedes that corruption happens everywhere – Malaysia is not unusual. “What Malaysia needs now is good managers of its wealth and resources.”

EK Cheah, Managing Partner, Aspac Executive Search, observes that looking at the economy from a broad point of view there are a few scenarios playing out. They are “… On one hand, Europe is on a downward trend, China is slowing down and the US is stagnating. This implies that Malaysia which is largely export-dependent will be impacted. Even on the commodities front, palm oil, prices are down due to oversupply.”

Growth is however present, due to the various government initiatives, e.g. ETP. From a HR view, he says, there will be hiring, but there is definitely a big gap in talent. Two factors contributing to this are Malaysians emigrating and basically greater job mobility due to globalisation.

So is there enough talent at the high-end/professionals level? “No, and this has been the case for many years and will continue to be the case for many years to come. As for TalentCorp – Why have they shifted their focus from getting Malaysians back to also attracting expats? (https://www.expats.com.my/rp/new/html/) They should be focusing on getting Malaysians back and on top of that also help correct the fundamentals that would be required to retain Malaysian talents over the long term.”

As for the Malaysian economy, he is confident it will still grow 4-5 per cent a year over the next 2-3 years but much still depends on the socio-economical situation.

Judging by the responses, it could well be a quiet Merdeka for many.

Section 114A - What is the reason behind this?

Just read something really interesting over the internet these few days. Apparently there is a new Act that is being implemented into the laws of Malaysia. This act is known as Section 114A. However, many fellow Malaysians are very against it. I got curious and decided to take a venture and see more about this. 

There is a blog regarding this matter, Stop 114A was created to follow on the highlights on this Act. I, however, find it very disturbing. This Act enables the government to tap into everything personal of yours online and also your personal things - smart phones, laptops, computers, networks etc. And worse... is it to protect the user or to protect the government? With such a "breach", isn´t it a violation of their (the government) opinion that Malaysia is a democratic country and they also practice freedom of speech? Isn´t it also a violation of Human Rights?

ABOUT SECTION 114A

What is Section 114A?

Section 114A is the second of two amendments made to Malaysia’s Evidence Act 1950.

Law Minister Nazri Aziz tabled the second amendment, formally known as Evidence (Amendment) (No2) Act 2012, in Dewan Rakyat on 18 April. James Dawos Mamit supported the motion, and Section 114A was passed after the second and third reading. On 9 May, Dewan Negara passed the amendment.

The amendment was gazetted on 31 July 2012. This means the law is now operational.

What is the purpose of Section 114A?

Section 114A deals with allegedly illicit or harmful content on the Internet. In short, the amendment enables law enforcement officials to swiftly hold someone accountable for publishing seditious, defamatory, or libelous content online.

How does Section 114A affect you?

Titled “Presumption of Fact in Publication”, Section 114A holds the following people accountable for publishing content online:

(1) those who own, administrate, or edit websites open to public contributors, such as online forums or blogs;

(2) those who provide webhosting services or Internet access; and

(3) those own the computer or mobile device used to publish content online.

In other words, if allegedly defamatory content is traced back to your username, electronic device, and/or WiFi network, Section 114A presumes you are guilty of publishing illicit content on the Internet.

But what if you were the victim of identity theft and a hacker wrongfully used your Twitter or Facebook account to post defamatory content?

Under Section 114A, you are still considered guilty until proven innocent.

What is wrong with Section 114A?

Section 114A is problematic for a number of reasons:

i) It disproportionately burdens average Internet users who are wrongfully accused of publishing seditious or defamatory content.

ii) It makes Internet intermediaries–parties that provide online community forums, blogging and hosting services–liable for content that is published through their services.

iii) It allows hackers and cyber criminals to be free by making the person whose account/computer is hacked liable for any content/data which might have changed.

iv) It is a bad law passed in haste and does not take into account public interest and participation.

Section 114A threatens the right to freedom of expression. Internet users may resort to self-censorship to avoid false accusations made under Section 114A. Bloggers, for example, may excessively censor comments made by their readers.  As a result, Section 114A inadvertently stifles public discussion about pertinent political or social issues and protects public authorities, such as the State, from public scrutiny.

Boycotting the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra - Musicians out there, take not

I read some very interesting articles today, which apparently cannot be found via many medias or newspapers and that this issue is mostly hushed up. The apparent termination of 9 members of the orchestra, the longest served 14 years, for no apparent reason by a CEO whom doesn´t even have any single knowledge of music and was appointed by Petronas.

I really hope that those innocently terminated musicians will get the legal law on their side! How can you get luxury without paying its price? How can you destroy music just because you feel like it?

大多数的男人都喜欢热情的女生，就算在老婆或女友面前还和别的女人摸来摸去的， 觉得很爽。 可是不喜欢他老婆或女友对别人很热情。如果老婆或女友在大庭广众发脾气，大家都会责怪老婆很小气。

男人也喜欢看楼胸部的女生，就算是丑八怪， 也觉得很好看。就算老婆或女友在现场， 男的还是一直盯着看，有些犯贱的还拿出照相机一直拍，一直拍。 如果自己的老婆穿衣漏一点，就会被臭骂一顿，就是要她们穿到想一个没味道的家庭主妇。可怜的女人，又感到羞耻和没信心。
